Superboy

superboy I got off work late last night, hate late appointments that don’t stop talking. I get it, yeah, yeah, I’m here for you…but dude you have a late appointment and THEN you were late to your appointment. I’ve got a fucking family too.

It was bedtime when I got home. Went to put son to bed and he comes off the wall with, “If I come out dressed funny in the morning don’t worry.”

OK..WTF? ROFLMAO He then proceeds to tell me that it’s spirit day. My kids both get into the dress-up spirit days at school. I love it. So here is the costume he made himself and came out in today…

You can tell he put work into the shirt. Folks, that is a hand drawn shirt. That isn’t something he modified. He took sharpies and markers to a white T and created that.

I drove him to the bus stop because it’s raining pretty hard and I knew he didn’t want to wear a sweatshirt over the outfit.  Of course no one in this stupid neighborhood is dressed up so he’s getting a little nervous.

I held my tongue. A near impossible task for me.

I wanted to ask if he wanted to go home or have me drive him to school, but thought “NO, he can ask”.  I mean, I fought talking him out of being embarrassed with every ounce in my body. I was so worried he was making the wrong choice and would be made fun of. Thank goodness I was starting to learn and didn’t project my issues on him.  He took off the cape for the bus, but he was fine.

It will be good when he gets to school.  Unless I get a call.

You can’t tell, but he has a pair of whitey-tighties on over his sisters black tights.  lol  I know it’s spirit day, but I wasn’t sure if that was appropriate for school or not.  Guess we’ll see.  He said it would be fine and he hates to get in trouble, so I’m sure it will be.

Can I yet again…UPDATE on this post from 2008.

Sorry folks, this is what happens when a blog is over a decade old and the kids are adults now. I’m updating it and hubby is looking over my shoulder here on the couch. I opened the picture from the old post was putting it into a program to work with. I can see the odd look from hubby out of the corner of my eye.

So, I asked him…do you remember “L” creating this costume? Just from asking, no he didn’t. I have a good idea that the girl helped her little brother a lot with this costume. But when I threw in the whole wearing whitey-tighties outside the tights, it was vaguely coming back to him.

Dude, that’s a huge amount of confidence. And looking back, this kid has never lacked confidence in how he wants to be or act or dress. Neither of our kids could be tagged in a “group” in high school even. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
